Parish Bell

Terms of Service

Last updated: 5 October 2026

These terms govern the use of Parish Bell — a service for preparing and publishing parish bulletins, used by parish offices and the volunteers they invite. By using the service you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and, where applicable, your parish. Plain-language summary: your parish owns its content, publishes it under its own responsibility, and we run the tools carefully in the background.

Invitation-based access

Accounts are created by a parish office, not by open sign-up. Keep your sign-in links and access private, use your own account, and tell the parish office (and us) if you believe an account has been used without permission.

Your parish's responsibilities

The parish office decides what is published and is responsible for it — including having a proper basis for publishing personal information such as names in mass intentions, wedding banns, collections, and photographs. It also helps to make sure parishioners know where their details will appear.

Content and ownership

Your parish (and where applicable the diocese) keeps the rights to the content you publish. Weekly reflection material from the diocese is republished with credit to NEWBEC. We host and process your content only to run the service — for example, rendering print copies and sending pages to readers.

Fair use

Do not use the service to break the law, to publish content you have no right to publish, to bypass access controls, to interfere with the service, or to reach another parish's information. Parishes and users who do may have access suspended.

Availability and backups

We run the service with care — daily backups, encrypted off-site copies, monitoring with email alerts — but no online service can promise uninterrupted availability. Please keep your own copies of records that matter to your parish.

Liability

The service is provided as-is. To the extent Malaysian law allows, our liability for the service is limited; and nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Suspension and changes

We may suspend access when needed to protect the service, readers, or parish data, or when these terms are broken. We may update these terms as the service develops; the current version always lives on this page, and continued use after an update means acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, and disputes belong to the courts of Malaysia.
